My heart sincerely goes out to the families and surviving campers of Camp Mystic, as well as to all others affected by this tragedy.
This occurred just across the stream from Camp Arrowhead in Hunt, Texas—where my sister and I spent many formative summers on the South Fork of the Guadalupe River.
Camp Arrowhead gave Susan and
me so much during our youth, and it saddens me deeply to hear of this heartbreaking event.
I still cherish the memories of those joyful summers: from archery to horseback riding, and the lifelong friendships formed in our gold and purple camp outfits as we sang songs by the campfire—on that very same river we fondly
remember to this day.
With real tears in my eyes, I offer my heartfelt prayers. May God bless all the families and friends who have lost loved ones. This is a moment I will never forget.
